I take inspiration on our very own weaving industry. The Banig(Mat) truly exudes beauty, but technically, it’s not a textile, depending on the regions in the Philippines. The mat is made of buri(palm), pandan on sea grass leaves. The leaves are dried, usually dried then cut into strips and woven into mats. Even though it’s not a textile, this does not hinder Filipinos to do a really great job in showing the endless creative capability. This collection is dedicated to my Artisans who have been with me for the past 12 years, their dedication and love for their craft are all labor of love.
